When was al-tabari born...
He is Muhammad ibn Jarir ibn Yazeed ibn Katheer ibn Galib, famously knows as Imam Abu Ja'far at-Tabari. He is one of the greatest most renowned, prominent and influential early Persian Muslim scholars of the third Hijri century, historian and exegete of the Qur'an from Tabaristan, modern Mazandaran in Persia/Iran.
He is commonly reffered to as the Imam of the Mufassireen indicating his high status and deep knowledge.
Birth and Early Years
Abu Ja'far Muhammad Ibn Jarir at-Tabari (رحمه الله) waswas born in Amul,6 Tabiristan (Iran), during the winter of 839CE.
