          Apollo Levine, an original cast member of Broadway's MJ the Musical, steps into the roles of Rob/Joseph Jackson beginning December 6 at the Neil Simon Theatre.

          Levine, who originally played Tour Singer, Tito Jackson, and Quincy Jones, succeeds fellow original cast member Quentin Earl Darrington.

        3. Melvin Van Peebles, the trailblazing filmmaker, dubbed the godfather of Black film, went home to the ancestors at 89 Tuesday at his home in Manhattan.
        4. Melvin Van Peebles is survived by three children Mario Van Peebles, Megan Van Peebles and Max Van Peebles and a host of grandchildren.
        5. The hit musical marked Levine's Broadway debut.

          The casting news was announced by the production on Twitter.

          The musical features a book by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage and a score made up of some of the most popular songs in recording history.

          Tony Award winner Christopher Wheeldon directs and choreographs.

          MJ features sets by Derek McLane, lighting by Natasha Katz, costumes by Paul Tazewell, sound design by Gareth Owen, projection design by Peter Nigrini, and hair and wig design by Charles LaPointe, music direction by Jason Michael Webb, musical supervision by David Holcenberg, and orchestrations by Holcenberg and Webb.

          Casting is by Rachel Hoffman of The Telse
