Marion Douglas Hargrove, Jr., age 94, of Richmond, Virginia passed away on September 9, Marion was born August 4, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Hargrove's son, Stephen MacDonell Hargrove of Berkeley, Calif.

The son of a railway mail clerk, Hargrove was a features writer and the editor of his high school newspaper in Charlotte, N.C., but left.

Children: first marriage: Christopher, Stephen, Penelope; stepdaughter: Julianna Roosevelt; second marriage: James, Martha, Edward.

Marion was born August 4, 1930 in Shreveport, Louisiana to the late Deryl Buford Hargrove and Dr. Marion Douglas Hargrove, Sr.

Marion grew up in Shreveport. He attended Rice University in Houston, Texas and graduated from Centenary College in Shreveport.

He received a Doctor of Medicine degree from Tulane University School of Medicine where he was third in his class. His medical training included an Internship at Philadelphia General Hospital and a Residency in Internal Medicine at Charity Hospital in New Orleans.

He was an Instructor in Medicine and a Fellow in Gastroenterology at Duke University School of Medicine and also held a Residency in Medicine at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. In 1961, he began a practice of Gastroenterology in Shreveport.
